Berni, like everyone else, is being subjected to propaganda which looks to drive increasing suspicion, division and hate between people. Bert would undoubtedly have seen messages like the one above as he is drawn deeper into his new 'family' - the Hitler Youth.
The original Nazi poster from 1938 (BC.edu 'Out with all those who disturb the peace') leaves you with 98 characters spare if it were a tweet or SMS. Concise and highly visual communication. Some things don't change. Ask your students to consider the glaring contradiction implied by the message and image. Do they think this kind of visual communication is used nowadays by politicians? Is it more sophisticated? What would their reaction be to seeing this if they were Berni?
